B&B Sardinia
Italy is among our favorite destinations for a retreat to nature. You can combine a hike in the mountain with a day on the Mediterranean coast and finish off with pasta al dente in a little family-owned Italian restaurant. The best way to get prepared for a day full of activities is to stay in a B&B and enjoy the breakfasts of your local hosts with a view of the Italian countryside. Who needs anything more? The islands of Italy are even more popular among nature enthusiasts as they are further from tourist hot spots such as Milan and Rome. Sardinia is the second largest island in Italy after Sicily. The ecosystem of the island is remarkable and includes mountains, forest areas, rocky coastline and long beaches; there are vast territories which remain uninhabited to this day.
Staying in Bed and Breakfast gives you the possibility to worry about one thing less on your trip. The nature houses are located in beautiful secluded areas deep in the countryside and provide plenty of chances for day trip and new experiences in nature. The hosts have prepared everything to ensure that you are comfortable and enjoying Italy to the fullest.
Explore the island nature of Sardinia
Almost 70% of the island is made of hills and despite its proximity to the Italian peninsula and Sicily, Sardinia is not earthquake-prone. Almost all of the rest of its territory is hidden under dense forests. In fact, in Sardinia you will find the largest Mediterranean forest of Europe – Sulcis Regional Park. It is part of the UNESCO-established Historical and Environmental Geominerary Park.
Are you a fan of spending a day on the beach and enjoying the weather on the island in peace and tranquility? Then definitely leave one day for La Pelosa Beach in Stintino. The beach is bright white, creating a stunning contrast to the bright turquoise waters. The view is spectacular – you can see the Mediterranean and the island of Asinara is a short boat ride away.
Island activities
A seaside staircase will not only feed your soul with the stunning views of the Mediterranean, but will also take you down to the natural wonder Alghero. Alghero is a deep cave with a large seawater lake inside, as well as all kinds of geological forms. The experience is out of this world and is also possible to do by boat from the nearby port.
Another interesting attraction are the mysterious ancient structures Nuraghe. They can be found all over the island, however the most popular place to visit is the Su Nuraxi, located in the Barumini archaeological site. Barumini is considered as one of the greatest symbols of ancient civilization on the island. Supramonte Mountain is one of the ranges on Sardinia; it is also the place where you will find Italy’s Grand Canyon. Gola di Gorropu is almost two kilometers wide and descends the remarkable 500 m down the mountain. Huge boulders make up one of the best hiking trails on the island, according to professionals. The region is also a popular destination for rafting on the turbulent rivers.
