This beautiful boat moored in the Aude on the Canal du Midi is a former commercial barge, used in Belgium and France in the 1930s. After a complete renovation in 2005, it has become a particularly attractive holiday home. This wooden boat has a shaded terrace with a magnificent view of the famous Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The rooms are large and pleasant, tastefully decorated, and there's even a little garden laid out just for you on the shore! There are many attractions in this beautiful region, including the famous medieval city of Carcassonne, also a listed site. Visit the Cathar castles, the giant chasm at Cabrespine, the wine cellars and numerous abbeys, such as Fontfroide. You can even bring your pet. Not far away, you'll find a small lock, typical of the Canal du Midi, which you can watch in operation. Four bicycles are available to help you explore the area. Fishing in the river is permitted. For safety reasons, we strongly advise against hiring the boat to families with children under the age of 7, or to families whose children cannot yet swim. The Lodela barge is the project of a lifetime.
