The ruralhut is a spacious, authentic, restored family house. It is located at the end of a road in a rural setting and isolated by forest and pasture landscapes. There’s a lot of space outside for the children to play around in. There’s also plenty of shaded spots, so you can get comfortable and enjoy the view from all angles, even when it’s hot outside. The cottage is in the village of Grand-Vabre. It is below and alongside the Dourdou, roughly five kilometers away. The Lot river also streams below. The surrounding area offers many different hiking opportunities. Both short and long routes have been deployed, for example the famous GR65. Many people canoe over the Lot. The surrounding area offers many possibilities for a range of adventurous outdoor activities. Additionality, the area is also very inspiring for painters and photographers. Nearby on the other side of the Lot river, the Cantal (part of Auvergne, the Central massif) is located with extensive mountain and volcano areas. The energy costs only apply from October to May.
Nature and surroundings
The cottage is located at a height of about 500 meters at the top of a mountain. You have a wide view on nearly all sides here. Below are the ‘Vallée du Lot’ and the ‘Valléé du Dourdou’ which come together and merge here. The landscape is determined in the immediate surroundings by the two valleys. There are many steep rocky walls to be seen. The area consists out of agriculture and forests. There are many characteristic, small villages with a cozy atmosphere, markets, village festivals and so forth. The most famous village in the area would be Conques, one of the ‘plus beaux villages de France’. The nearest city is Rodez. There are hiking trails, cycling routes, horse riding possibilities, canoeing and plenty more! The nature is quite rough, with many smaller roads and (hiking) trails.
