A small dead-end road at the foot of the castle leads to a path that leads to a large stone house. In the oldest part, the "voûte," (16th century) silkworms were kept. From a terrace with a linden tree, stairs lead to a wide balcony and the front door. Through the entrance you enter the cozy dining kitchen. The spacious dining area adjoins the spacious living room with French doors to the conservatory. From there you step onto a large terrace. This upper house has a spacious bedroom with a double bed and a door to the balcony and to the bathroom/WC. Stairs up and you are in a room with two more beds. On the ground floor are two bedrooms. One has a double bed and a bathroom; the other, the cozy 'voûte', has two beds but no bathroom. You are dependent on the use of the other bathrooms. The house sits on a dry and rugged creek. Each season has its own charm, from yellow gorse and purple judas tree in spring to red boxwood in winter. Rosemary bushes are fragrant all year.It is located in the Ardèche on the Rhone and right across from the cozy city of Montélimar in the Drôme. The grounds are 1.5 hectares, two thirds of which are mountains. There is plenty of room for parking. From the house you have a beautiful view towards the Rhone. Rochemaure has a medieval castle that towers over the Rhone valley. There are 2 bakers, a butcher, supermarket, kiosk, pharmacy, hairdresser and a pizzeria. In 10 minutes you walk to the village, so you can go get fresh croissants in the morning.In the vicinity of the house you can do good walking and cycling in the hills. But there is also ViaRhona, the flat long-distance bike path. For day trips are eg Orange, Nimes, Arles, Avignon (music / theater festival in July) within easy reach.
