Nature house in Rochemaure
Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France
- 6 persons
- 4 bedrooms
- WiFi
- Pets allowed
Alongside this spacious and comfortable ruralhut there is a rocky dry river bed. The hills surrounding it are covered with shrubs and aromatic herbs. By virtue of its special layout, the house offers a lot of privacy. Each season has its own charm, from the flowering almond trees, yellow Scotch Broom and purple Judas trees to the Red Boxwood in winter. The scent of rosemary is in the air all year long. One enters the house through a front door located on the first floor, accessible via a broad staircase leading to a balcony. The entrance hall connects to a cozy dining kitchen, followed by a living room where a wood stove provides extra warmth on cold days. The veranda, which opens onto a large terrace, adjoins the living room. Left of the entrance hall is the master bedroom with a double bed, a door to the balcony, and a beautiful view of the Rhone valley. The loft above the bathroom can accommodate two more people. On the ground floor is another double bedroom (with bathroom), adjacent to a small terrace shaded by a lime tree. There is also a scullery and a garage. For groups of eight people, there is a fourth sleeping accommodation in the ‘voûte’, suitable for two persons, but without sanitary facilities. Wireless internet is available. This house can also be booked for eight persons: 26730.
Nature and surroundings
Rochemaure is located at the edge of the Ardèche on the west bank of the Rhone river, across the picturesque town of Montélimar. A small road at the foot of the castle hill becomes a path through the spacious garden of the house. There is no traffic around the 1.5 hectare property, two third of which consists of steep mountain slopes in the back and to the side. There is enough parking space. The house presents a beautiful view over the rugged surroundings and the Rhone valley. It is a 10 minute walk to the village, so you can get fresh croissants in the morning at the bakery. Rochemaure has kept its medieval character and invites you to explore, including a climb to the castle ruin that towers over the Rhône valley. There is a butcher, a small supermarket, a pharmacy, a news stand, a hairdresser, a pizzeria and a tavern. In the immediate vicinity of the house you can go on hiking and biking tours (the ViaRhona long-distance bike path runs from Geneva to the Mediterranean). From this house, the towns of Orange, Avignon (music / theater festival in July) and other beautiful destinations in the Ardèche, Drôme and Provence are within easy reach.
