Nature house in Tavira

The house, given its location, is rustic which we really liked. It has a log burner which kept the living area and one of the sleeping areas lovely and warm during our stay in December, when the nights could be a little chilly. We were surprised to find that it had good access to the internet and if you have a rainy day there is TV with access to things like Amazon Prime and Netflix. If you want polish, perfection and luxury accommodation then this is not the house for you, but if you want a very relaxed stay in nature in a lovely rustic house, as we did, then you'll enjoy it. Johan, the owner, is very responsive and helped us with lots of information about the house, walks and places to visit / eat, etc. We'll definitely be coming back. Thank you for the stay.

The house is fully in nature. It is within a lovely wooded area and on a hillside above a small river with tall reeds. Although isolated it is easily accessed by car from either Morenos or Umbria. If you like being in nature with wildlife and peace this is the place for you but just be aware that the access to the house is not likely to be suitable for people with mobility issues. The are lots of walks in the hills from the house and if you feel like visiting somewhere the beautiful town of Tavira is only a 15 to 20 minute drive away.

If you read the previous comments from 1 year ago, all the flaws are still there !!!! NOTHING has been done about it. I can safely send the recent photos that do not match the photos on the website, FB group, the website of hortus das canvas. you can hear the rats or other vermin running between the ceiling and the tiles of the roof, all night. All the cushions in the garden and on the chairs are with tears, faucet with tape, light in the kitchen only together when the cooker hood works, far too much to put here. Landlord's response: the other cottage has their own parking. You have privacy and the house is completely closed with no pests. There are currently no tears in pillows and other things you point out have already been fixed.

Als je de vorige opmerkingen van 1 jaar geleden leest, dan zijn alle gebreken er nog !!!! Er is NIETS aan gedaan. Ik kan gerust de recente foto's sturen die niet overeenkomen met de foto's op de website, de FB groep, de website van hortus das canvas. je hoort de ratten of ander ongedierte tussen het plafond en de dakpannen lopen, de ganse nacht. Alle kussen in de tuin en op de stoelen zijn met scheuren, kraan met tape, licht in de keuken enkel samen als de dampkap werkt, veel te veel om hier te zetten.

het andere huisje heeft hun eigen parking. U heeft privacy en het huis is volledig dicht zonder ongedierte. Er zijn momenteel geen scheuren in kussens en andere dingen die U aangeeft zijn reeds hersteld.

The entire property was clearly once the jewel of these pictures! Beautifully situated, in the middle of nature, in peace and quiet. Now the entire property is unfortunately completely dilapidated and neglected. We find this a real shame. In the first place of course because this is not what we have chosen as a vacation. And then also disproportionate to the amount we paid for it. We really read on the previous reviews all the same and now so 1 year later it is still so !!!!
The tenants of the smaller house behind the pool (whose filter does not work) always go along your part, so no privacy !!!

Het ganse domein is duidelijk ooit het pareltje van op deze foto’s geweest! Prachtig gelegen, midden in de natuur , in alle rust. Nu is het ganse domein jammer genoeg helemaal onderkomen en verwaarloosd. Helaas ook het ooit prachtige vakantiehuis.

We vinden dit echt ontzettend jammer. In de eerste plaats uiteraard omdat dit niet is waar wij voor gekozen hebben als vakantie. En vervolgens ook niet in verhouding staat met het bedrag dat wij hiervoor betaalden. We lezen echt op de vorige reviews alles hetzelfde en nu dus 1 jaar later is het nog zo !!!!
De huurders van het kleinere huisje achter het zwembad (waarvan de filter niet werkt) gaan altijd langs uw deel, dus geen privacy !!!

The rugged terrain, climate and location make this a special place, and probably not an easy property to own. You pay a good price (almost 1000 euros in the fall trade) and that, along with the fotoos, creates expectations. There are some things that for me detracted a bit from the experience such as dead (potted) plants, garden furniture with lacking or damp cushion, cluttered and taped toilet, some kitchen stuff in need of replacement, cleaning could be better, bit overgrown terrain. The temperature in early Nov was still nice (20-22 degrees), inside the house a bit chilly, there are plenty of blankets but wood for the stoves only comes at the end of November, so in autumn warm clothes for inside is recommended. There is a little hippie-like atmosphere, Mexican finca meets yoga art, a colorful mishmash of linens. Communication via app quick, friendly and solution-oriented. Many trips made, we had a great week. Could do with a little more attention to the level of house and grounds though.Landlord response:We took your advice and removed the potted plants,chair repaired,garden trimmed,cabinets&kitchen on point & 2nd Toilet work again,also our tub help now has better instructions.

Door het ruige terrein, klimaat en locatie is dit een bijzonder plek, en waarschijnlijk geen eenvoudig bezit. Je betaalt een goede prijs (bijna 1000 euro in de herfstvak) en dat schept, samen met de fotoos, verwachtingen. Er zijn wat dingen die voor mij wat aan de ervaring afdeden zoals dode (pot-)planten, tuinmeubilair met gebrek of vochtig kussen, rommelkastjes, een verstopt en afgeplakt toilet, sommig keukenspul aan vervanging toe, schoonmaak kan beter, beetje overwoekerd terrein. De temperatuur begin nov was nog lekker (20-22 graden), in huis wat killer, er zijn genoeg dekens maar hout voor de kachels komt pas eind november, dus in de herfst is warme kleding voor binnen aan te raden. Er hangt een beetje hippie-achtige sfeer, Mexicaanse finca meets yoga-kunst, een kleurrijk ratjetoe aan linnengoed. Communicatie via app snel, vriendelijk en oplossingsgericht. Veel uitstapjes gemaakt, we hadden een fijne week. Wel zou er wat meer aandacht kunnen naar het niveau van huis en terrein.

We hebben uw raad opgevolgd en de potplanten weg gehaald,stoel hersteld,tuin gesnoeid,kastjes&keuken op punt gesteld & 2de Wc werk weer,ook onze kuishulp heeft nu betere instructies.

Horta das Canas is in a green, ruggedly vegetated spot about 20 car minutes from Tavira, a nice coastal town. The freeway turns into a winding road between the hills, then a stretch of stone bumpy path where we saw the beautiful hops and where you cross the dry riverbed (which started flowing after a few rainy days). Peace and greenery are guaranteed here. A nicely laid winding path between palms and cacti leads to the house. There is a spacious outdoor canopy where it is nice to sit and look through to green valley on the sunny side. It also looks like the house and grounds have seen more care (ws when it was occupied by previous owners, given older information still there). The eco-label, which was pursued then because wastewater goes directly into the ground (or went at the time?) is apparently no longer practiced now, given the standard cleaning products there.

Horta das Canas ligt op een groene, ruig begroeide plek op ca 20 autominuten van Tavira, een leuke kustplaats. De autoweg gaat over in een slingerweg tussen de heuvels, dan een stuk stenen hobbelpad waar we de prachtige hop zagen en waar je de droge rivierbedding doorkruist (die na een paar regendagen begon te stromen). Rust en groen zijn hier gegarandeerd. Een mooi aangelegd slingerpaadje tussen palmen en cactussen voert naar het huis. Er is een ruime buiten overkapping waar het fijn zitten is en doorkijkje naar groene vallei aan de zonkant. Het lijkt er ook wel op dat huis en terrein meer verzorging hebben gekend (ws toen het werd bewoond door vorige eigenaren, gezien oudere informatie die er nog ligt). Het ecolabel, wat toen werd nagestreefd omdat afvalwater direct de grond in gaat (of destijds ging?) wordt nu, gezien de standaard schoonmaakmiddelen die er staan, blijkbaar niet meer gehanteerd.
