This charming nature house near Sonnac sur l'Hers sits on a quiet 40-acre estate with enchanting views of the Pyrenees. The cottage is somewhat isolated from the main house, next to the stables, and has a spacious terrace bordered by a dense hedge. First floor: living room, kitchen, bathroom with shower. The kitchen is fully equipped. You have a stove, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, oven, coffee maker, washing machine and a kettle. On the first floor are two bedrooms and a bathroom. Both bedrooms have two single beds. Within walking distance from the cottage you will find the common swimming pool (round, diameter 6 m) and about 20 min drive away is a large lake, Lac Montbel, where you can swim and do water sports. Bicycles can be rented in nearby Chalabre (10 min) where there is also a supermarket and bakery.
Nature and surroundings
You can take lovely walks here, such as the "Voie Verte" a beautiful trail along the former railroad line and enjoy the unspoiled nature or explore the area on a mountain bike (available for rent nearby), for example around Lake Montbel. In Chalabre, just a ten-minute drive away, you will find stores, the bakery, a small supermarket, a bank, a post office and restaurants. Every Monday morning there is a market in medieval Mirepoix (25 minutes' drive). It is not a far drive to the most famous Cathar castles such as Montségur, Quéribus or Peyrepertuse and impressive natural beauty such as the ravines of the Galamus is also within easy reach. Information on excursions, hiking and biking tours can be found in the house. Highly recommended is, for example, a walk through the "Labyrinthe verte", a maze formed by nature from rocks and stone formations, in the middle of a fairytale forest. The best time to be here is in spring, when orchids are in bloom everywhere, or in autumn when the weather is stable and still warm and the forests show their beautiful autumn colors. Besides, there is a good chance then, that you are completely alone here!
