Nature house in Rocles
Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France
- 8 persons
- 3 bedrooms
- Swimming pool
- Pets allowed
Those who opt for southern France are optimally located in Ardeche. Slightly more northern, with still a Mediterranean climate slightly cooler, but still more than 2500 hours of sunshine per year. The house is very quietly located, away from the tourist crowds, in a green and mountainous area in the middle of the protected natural park Parc Naturel Des Monts De L'Ardèche. The deep "gorges", the rugged nature and the ridges of the Massif du Tanargue are nearby, all amidst centuries-old chestnut trees. These landlords rent a 200-year-old farmhouse that has been converted in recent years into a simple nature house. All amenities are provided. The nature house can accommodate up to eight people and features a fully equipped kitchen, living room with stove, bathroom with walk-in shower and a second bathroom close to the terrace/pool. Upstairs, this nature house also has a playroom with a small billiard/pingpong table and a washer/dryer.
Nature and surroundings
Rocles is a commune in the southern French department of Ardèche and has 220 inhabitants spread over 16 hamlets. The nature house is located at an altitude of 510 meters and is surrounded by chestnut forests (part of which is neatly maintained by the local farmer for harvesting chestnuts). From the two south-facing terraces there is a wide view over the valley. There is no through traffic, only the residents who live further away occasionally pass by. Throughout the municipality and its surroundings there are extensive hiking possibilities. A few years ago the old connecting roads between the farms and hamlets were cleared and signposted for walkers. From the nature house one can climb the Cham Du Cros (1100 meters) with wide views over the entire region. At 30 to 45 minutes you can visit several historical towns such as Largentiere, Vinézac, Joyeuse, Labeaume and Balazuc. The gorges of the Ardèche are of course well known, but nearby the gorges of the Beaume are also worth visiting. Of course, the local weekly markets are not to be sneezed at!
