This nature house is on a property with a total of three nature houses. You enter the nature house through the hall. After this you enter the large living room with its massive fireplace, glass wall overlooking the terrace and spacious open kitchen. The kitchen offers everything to prepare a simple or an elaborate meal. On the kitchen wall you can admire Hungarian women's magazines from the 1960s; the other walls are papered with reproductions of works of art from the socialist realist school. From this central space you can access both bedrooms on the ground floor, each with its own bathroom. From the living room, the wooden stairs take you to the cozy reading area and the additional bedroom. The house has a laundry room, where you will find a washing machine, vacuum cleaner and other cleaning materials for the daily household chores. From the garden you can reach the natural swimming pool via a jetty. The nature house has an outdoor kitchen with a barbecue.
Nature and surroundings
The Cserehát nature reserve, which begins just about at Irota, is located on the south side of the Hungarian-Slovakian border and is bordered by the Sajó, Bódva and Hernád rivers. Compared to the rougher, Slovak side of the area, the Cserehát is rolling and covered in forest. Consequently, it has thriving wildlife. Visitors will see foxes, deer and roe deer. The mostly shy wild boars are less visible, but also present in large numbers. The hills average 250 to 300 meters in height. The area is popular with hikers, cyclists, fishermen and hunters. The wide variety of bird species makes the Cserehát an ornithological destination par excellence. True, life in the Hungarian countryside offers some challenges. Although in Irota the baker (three times even), the vegetable farmer and even a pastry chef stop by every week, the village no longer has its own store. However, this does not mean that you have to be deprived of local delicacies. The landlords can tell you exactly who in the village you can buy eggs, fruits and vegetables from. Water sports enthusiasts are referred to Lake Rakaca. This lake is about 40 minutes by car from Irota between the villages of Szalonna and Meszes. The lake is beautifully situated among the hills and offers a rich variety of flora and fauna. Although great for swimming, rowing, fishing and windsurfing, this natural area is remarkably quiet. If you plan to cast a fishing rod, you must have a fishing license. The landlords will help you purchase one if desired.
