This nature house is located on Wallsteijn estate, a more than 100-hectare nature reserve in southwestern Brabant, west of Zundert. It was created after the excavation of the raised bog. Until the mid-18th century, peat was transported here via fully loaded flatboats over the peat canal to the port of Breda. Wallsteijn now consists of coniferous and deciduous forest with old oak lanes, interspersed with old farmland surrounded by wooded banks. The nature house is located in the landlord's yard. The sleeping facilities are located on an upper floor, accessible by a comfortable staircase. By default, the cottage is offered for 2 persons. There is a small additional charge for an additional person.
Nature and surroundings
The estate is located in the border area with Belgium, as well as between several adjacent natural monuments. Together they form a vast area of forest, heathland, fens and hedgerows. To the west lie the Old and New Buissche Heide. To the north lie the estates of De Moeren, Lange Maten and De Pannehoef. The various tea domes, the country house of Henriëtte Roland-Holst, the attractive walking and cycling routes and the various forest cafes offer a pleasant stay in this West Brabant nature and culture. Wallsteijn is managed by Natuurmonumenten. There is a blue walking route of 12 kilometers, a yellow one of 4 kilometers and a red one of 5 kilometers.
