North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

The original half-timbered house, completed in 1913, is located on the edge of the ancient town of Monschau in the middle of the German Eifel and was originally intended as a festival hall for the inhabitants of Monschau. It was later used as a gymnasium. After the Nature house had stood empty for about 10 years, the landlords converted the building, retaining old elements, into a Nature house. You enter the front building (with the bat chapel) via your own entrance, where you can take the stairs to the second floor. There is also a playroom for the children on the first floor. Via the stairs you come to the second floor with a large, open kitchen, which is of course equipped with all the necessary appliances to cook for a large group. On this floor there is also a lounge (30m2) with a sitting area, large screen TV and a special dining table for 20 people. There is a toilet in the stairwell. The private terrace is sheltered behind the building and is 60m2 in size with a view of the mountains in the background. The terrace is not used by others. There are box-spring beds in all bedrooms!
Nature and surroundings
The Eifel is very suitable for nature lovers, hikers and mountain bikers. From the door you walk along the Rur, directly into the indicated hiking area with many paths and different directions, you experience changing seasons at first hand. The hilly landscape around Monschau alternates with forests, heathland and beautiful villages. Wild daffodils grow in spring. To the south lies the Perlenbachtal nature reserve with the Morasten and de Hoge Venen, which continues across the Belgian border. Monschau is a small town on the edge of the Eifel, about 50 kilometers from Aken and the Belgian border. The historic center of Monschau has changed little in 300 years. You will mainly see half-timbered houses and beautiful facades. Monschau lies in the valley of the Rur. Monschau lies in the valley of the Rur. Thanks to the old center and the location between the green hills near the Eifel Nature Park, Monschau is popular with tourists.
