Nature house in Birresborn
Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
- 5 persons
- 2 bedrooms
- WiFi
- Pets allowed
A charming nature house, wheelchair accessible, overlooking the Kylldal and the village of Birresborn. The house is located on the outskirts of the village and is a perfect base for hours of hiking or biking. Spotting deer, roe deer, foxes, wild boars and all kinds of birds during your walk is no exception. Children can play and romp to their heart's content in the forest. In summer you can swim in the river Kyll down below. Children have hours of fun building dams with boulders from the river. Bad weather or don't feel like hiking? Then there are plenty of alternatives: swimming, a visit to the wildlife park in Gerolstein or a visit to the cultural cities of Trier or Koblenz . The hosts have numerous tips for a varied and pleasant stay. The first floor was completely renovated in 2017, is wheelchair accessible and has wheelchair accessible sanitary facilities. A train that runs between Cologne and Trier stops in the village.
Nature and surroundings
The Eifel is the eastern part of the middle-high plateau Eifel-Ardennes. The area was created by violent volcanic activity. The craters created by explosions of volcanic gases have filled with groundwater and are called Maare. The highest point is the Hohe Acht at 747 meters. To the west, against the Belgian border, the hills are known as Schneifel. The hills around this river are known as the Kyllwald. In Strohn south of Daun is a nice museum, to which there is also a learning path. Daun is home to the Eifel Volcano Museum. In the vicinity of Trier, you can follow the Rômerpfad, a 38-km hiking trail that partly follows the Butzerbach stream. Also worth visiting, toward Cochem on the Mosel, is Germany's longest suspension bridge: the hängeseilbrücke Geierlay. Just across the border in Luxembourg, towards Trier you will find the wonderful Müller language, also called Little Switzerland.
