Our old, largely self-refurbished farmhouse in La Chaux is located by the pond in a small hamlet in a quiet spot in the green hills of the Auvergne. With a large garden and wood-fired hot tub a great place to unwind in nature and a good base for all kinds of cultural or sporting activities in the area.
Nature and surroundings
The nature house is located in a small hamlet, La Chaux, in central France in the hills of the Puy-de-Dome department in the Auvergne region. It is about 800 kilometers from Breda. The capital of Auvergne is Clermont-Ferrand. It lies against the Massif Central, which is an ancient volcanic region with the highest being the ancient volcano Puy de Dôme (1465 meters). The highest point in Auvergne is Puy de Sancy (1886 meters). The landscape is characterized by green hills, meadows bordered by hedges (brambles) with white Charolais cows and hay bales, trees, streams and lakes. Many birds entertain in the hedges and birds of prey circle above the meadows. Just in front of the house is the "village pond" which used to be used for all sorts of things and now only contains some fish and ducks. In the immediate vicinity of the house is great for walking or cycling. A few kilometers away (you can walk inside) there is a swimming lake, Plan d'eau St. Maurice, with a small beach where you can swim and cool off in summer.
