Antonine de Mun, Duchess d'Ursel, was a talented amateur artist. In 1878, she had a painter's studio built a stone's throw from the castle. Now this studio is coming back to life as a nature house, completely in the spirit and style of Antonine. Stay in a stylish interior in a unique location and discover the park around the castle, walk through the polders or cycle along the dikes. Hingene is also centrally located between the Flemish art cities of Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent and Mechelen.
Nature and surroundings
For nearly four centuries, the castle d'Ursel was the favorite summer residence of the ducal family d'Ursel. Through the monumental gates you enter an oasis of tranquility. Come and have a picnic with a view of the castle or play on the vast lawns. Hiking trails lead you along ponds and through old lanes and with some luck you will see a squirrel, a bird of prey or a deer along the way. Get to know this beautiful region where the Scheldt meanders its way in seductive curves between green banks, mud flats and salt marshes. The nature house is the ideal base to explore Klein-Brabant on foot or by bike.
