Nature house in Beutenaken

Very comfortable and attractively furnished. Beautifully situated in a green yard.

Beautifully located cottage! Beutenaken is located in the middle of the valley of the Gulp, and from the cottage you can make many beautiful walks.

Prachtig gelegen huisje! Beutenaken ligt middenin het dal van de Gulp, en vanuit het huisje kun je vele kanten uit prachtige wandelingen maken.

Cozy cottage with vintage decor. Cottage was clean. Beautiful large garden. Just a shame that there was a musty smell in the closet. Despite the fact that the owner did her best to remove the smell by hanging scent bags in the closet. The description states that there is a Senseo coffee machine. We did not find one, there was a regular coffee maker and a Nespresso. This could be changed in the description.

Knus huisje met vintage inrichting. Huisje was schoon. Prachtige grote tuin. Alleen jammer dat er in de kledingkast een muffe geur hangt. Ondanks dat de eigenaresse haar best heeft gedaan om de geur te verwijderen door het ophangen van geurzakjes in de kast. In de beschrijving staat dat er een Senseo aanwezig is. Die hebben wij niet aangetroffen, er was een gewoon koffiezetapparaat en een Nespresso. Dit zou in de beschrijving aangepast kunnen worden.

Directly from the cottage you step into nature. This part of the Netherlands is still little built-up and there is a lot of nature. The rolling landscape makes it even more special.

Direct vanuit het huisje stap je zo de natuur in. In dit deel van Nederland is nog weinig bebouwd en is er veel natuur. Het glooiende landschap maakt het nog specialer.

This nature house is in a beautiful area, on the edge of the Groote Bosch. It is a beautiful hiking area! It is also in a beautiful location, from where we made beautiful bike rides, e.g. to Valkenburg (toboggan run) and the Drielandenpunt. It is located on a road, but this is a quiet road without much traffic. It is also very suitable for cyclists and mountain bikers (e.g. MTB route Gulpen).

What we found very unfortunate is that the evening before our stay we received a message that a dog was present. I am not afraid of dogs myself, but 1 of our children is. This turned out to be a husky that always runs loose all over the property, including on the terrace of the cottage. Furthermore, he barked and growled at us a lot, both at the front door and the back door. It seemed to be a friendly dog, but a barking and growling dog we dare not approach.
We just happened to have the misfortune that the owners were on vacation themselves just this week, leaving us with a dog that missed them, and preventing us from getting used to the dog together with the owner and subtitling his barking. Apparently he wanted to play, but he doesn't wag his tail and is hard to read.
When, after 2 days of trying, we did indicate in a message that we felt threatened by the dog on a regular basis, and if it could be kept inside or on a leash or to the neighbors, they said it would be fine and that the dog sitter would pay extra attention to the dog. This they did, but he continued to run loose and still bark at us.
They further responded that the dog had been mentioned on the website.
I then double-checked it and even made print screens, that it really wasn't in the text yet. Now fortunately the text has been changed, that a friendly husky is present. However, it still does not say that it runs loose continuously. Also, the terrace can not be closed. We tried this with a chair, but he pushed it aside. So my advice is to adjust the text that there is a LOS running dog, and to make a fence to at least close off the terrace.
On the last day before departure, the owners returned, and we indeed found out that it is a nice dog and we all petted him with their help/attention. But this did overpower our stay unfortunately.
For example, I didn't dare leave the kids alone in the yard for 2 minutes when I went to get water or sunburn inside. With an unknown loose dog barking, I wouldn't leave my kids alone for a second just to be sure. Whereas on vacation we just love being outside and playing outside. As a result, I was more wary than is fine on vacation.
So I would have preferred to just hear an apology, that I couldn't have known this in advance.

That was really the only downside. The cottage itself is cozy and authentically decorated. The plumbing was clean, towels were ready and there were fine beds.
The shelter provided by plants ensured that the cottage inside did not heat up extremely during the heat wave. Especially if you keep the doors closed.
The garden is downright beautiful, huge and with multiple seating areas. There was even a large swimming pool, which we enjoyed cooling off in. The children also played on the trampoline.
The garden is somewhat wild and lush, which I personally like much better than a boring/tight garden.
I would definitely recommend this cottage, if someone is not afraid of dogs, to future people!

Dit natuurhuisje staat in een prachtige omgeving, aan de rand van het Groote Bosch. Het is een prachtig wandelgebied! Ook ligt het op een prachtige locatie, vanwaar we mooie fietstochten hebben gemaakt, bv. naar Valkenburg (rodelbaan) en het Drielandenpunt. Het ligt wel aan een weg, maar dit is een rustige weg zonder veel verkeer. Het is ook erg geschikt voor wielrenners en mountainbikers (bv. MTB route Gulpen).

Wat wij wel erg jammer vonden, is dat we de avond voor ons verblijf een berichtje kregen dat er een hond aanwezig was. Ik ben zelf niet bang voor honden, maar 1 van onze kinderen wel. Dit bleek een husky te zijn die altijd losloopt over het hele terrein, dus ook op het terras van het vakantiehuisje. Verder blafte en gromde hij veel naar ons, zowel aan de voordeur als de achterdeur. Het scheen een vriendelijke hond te zijn, maar een blaffende en grommende hond durven wij niet aan te halen.
We hadden toevallig de pech dat de eigenaars net deze week zelf op vakantie waren, waardoor wij met een hond zaten die hen miste, en waardoor we niet even met de eigenaar samen konden wennen aan de hond en die zijn blaffen kon ondertitelen. Blijkbaar wou hij spelen, maar hij kwispelt niet en is moeilijk te lezen.
Toen we na 2 dagen proberen, toch in een berichtje aangaven dat we ons regelmatig door de hond bedreigd voelden, en of deze binnen gehouden kon worden of aan de lijn of naar de buren, zeiden ze dat het wel goed zou komen en dat de hondenoppas extra op de hond zou letten. Dit deden ze ook, maar hij bleef loslopen en nog naar ons blaffen.
Verder werd gereageerd dat de hond op de website was genoemd.
Ik heb het toen gedubbelcheckt en zelfs print screens gemaakt, dat het echt nog niet in de tekst stond. Nu is gelukkig de tekst aangepast, dat er een vriendelijke husky aanwezig is. Echter staat er nog steeds niet dat deze continu losloopt. Tevens is het terras niet af te sluiten. We hebben dit geprobeerd met een stoel, maar deze schoof hij opzij. Mijn advies is dus om de tekst aan te passen dat er een LOS lopende hond is, en om een hekje te maken om minimaal het terras af te kunnen sluiten.
Op de laatste dag voor vertrek kwamen de eigenaren terug, en kwamen we er inderdaad achter dat het een aardige hond is en hebben we hem allemaal geaaid met hun hulp/toezicht. Maar dit heeft wel ons verblijf overstemd helaas.
Ik durfde bijvoorbeeld niet de kinderen even 2 minuten alleen in de tuin te laten als ik water of zonnebrand binnen ging halen. Bij een onbekende loslopende hond die blaft, laat ik mijn kinderen voor de zekerheid geen seconde alleen. Terwijl we op vakantie juist zo graag buiten zijn en buiten spelen. Daardoor was ik meer op mijn hoede dan fijn is op vakantie.
Ik had dus liever gewoon een excuses gehoord, dat ik dit niet vooraf kon weten.

Dat was eigenlijk het enige minpunt. Het huisje zelf is knus en authentiek ingericht. Het sanitair was schoon, handdoeken lagen klaar en er waren prima bedden.
De beschutting door planten zorgde ervoor dat het huisje binnen niet extreem opwarmde tijdens de hittegolf. Zeker als je de deuren dicht houdt.
De tuin is ronduit prachtig, enorm groot en met meerdere zitjes. Er stond zelfs een groot zwembad, waar we heerlijk in konden afkoelen. De kinderen hebben ook op de trampoline gespeeld.
De tuin is wat wild en weelderig, wat ik persoonlijk veel mooier vind dan een saaie/strakke tuin.
Ik zou dit huisje, als iemand niet bang is voor honden, zeker aanraden aan toekomstige mensen!
