This thatched nature house is located in the middle of the nature reserve " the Onlanden", in the hamlet of Matsloot. The fully furnished cottage is fully equipped. It has a living room with wood stove. The modern kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, oven, stove and refrigerator. Via a staircase you reach the (open) loft with two single boxsprings. The cottage has a bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. At the back is a private canopy with lounge set where you can look out over the Koningsdiep (which has been flowing next to the cottage since the Middle Ages) and the garden. Birds, rabbits, hares and deer can be spotted from this beautiful place. From the cottage you can walk or cycle straight into the nature reserve De Onlanden. You can also fish on the small jetty in the garden. The nature house is located in the spacious yard of a farmhouse. Dogs are welcome, provided they get along with two cozy labradoodles and five cats that roam the yard.
Nature and surroundings
The Nature House is located between Roderwolde, Peizermade, Hoogkerk and the Leekstermeer. De Onlanden is a nature reserve of about 3500 contiguous soccer fields in size, with rough hay meadows and swamp forests. It is a paradise for many bird species. The great egret is the icon of De Onlanden, but the White-tailed Eagle and the Kingfisher are also regularly spotted here. In five minutes you can reach the city of Groningen by car, and via De Onlanden, Peizermade and the Stadspark you can cycle to Groningen in twenty minutes. Two kilometers away is a large bus station (P+R Transferium Hoogkerk) with bus lines in all directions.
