Nature house in Grimalda

Surrounded by rolling hills, olive groves and wild gorges lies our Nature House looking out on lake Butoniga. The nature house is an open space studio, with kitchen/living room + sofa bed downstairs, and bedroom and bathroom upstairs. The bedroom is connected to a large terrace where you can enjoy your morning coffee with a view. From the bath tub, you also have a beautiful view. They arranged the house with a lot of care. Refurbished and handmade furniture is combined with modern design. It's simple but cozy. On colder days you can make a fire in the wood stove, on hot days use the air conditioning. The kitchen is very well-equipped and contains a dishwasher. The terrace and balcony that connect the two houses are completely to your disposal. As neighbors, they can help you with recommendations, laundry and lend you things like hiking maps, books, or things for kids (they have two children, 10 and 8 years old). It's possible to make a barbecue in the garden.

The landscape in this non-touristic part of Istria is especially dynamic and exciting to explore. Wild gorges with their creeks make their way through forests and small patches of cultivated land... olive groves, orchards, wineyards and fields of grain and veggies. Podmeja is a tiny, authentic village where people grow their own food. You can buy local olive oil, wine, brandy, eggs, honey... It's a perfect area for hiking and enjoying nature and there are a few paths you can take directly from the guest house. Lake Butoniga is a drinking water reservoir so not for swimming, but there are some beautiful fresh water spots not far from here. There are lovely hill top villages to visit around here. It takes about 50 min to reach the coast in each direction, so trips to the beach and coastal towns are fully possible.
