Our robust 12th-century castle has been visited by many important people before you. In the 13th century, the future Pope Clement the 5th spent several days at Château de Barayre. We remain true to the historical atmosphere while adding all the contemporary luxuries; a lovely swimming pool, a generously equipped kitchen and fantastic terraces in the large park garden. The thick walls, with secret staircases and loopholes, keep it cool inside the castle, even during the hottest summer days. The little castle is located in a quiet valley. All around are meadows with organically raised sheep. It is here to enjoy the peace and space. Many flowers, fruit trees and wild animals. We have our own naturally kept vegetable garden and in the spring there is always a falcon in our tower, From the castle you can walk along footpaths in the woods and through the meadows where you really encounter no one. There are two beautiful bastide villages Villereal (7km), Monflanquin (8km), very close by. The people here are extremely friendly and are used to taking their time for what they are doing or for the person they are talking to. For those who want to get out and about, you can go hiking, biking, running, golfing, horseback riding, canoeing or fishing, as well as visit impressive castles, prehistoric settlements and caves including the world famous Lascaux caves.
