Vineyards appear everywhere here in this region that straddles the Charente-Maritime and the northern Bordeaux wine region, le Bordelais. A ferry can take you across the Gironde to the Médoc where you can visit the great chateaux that produce “les meilleurs grands crus du monde”, with legendary names such as Margaux, Saint-Julien, Saint-Estèphe and Pauillac. When back on our side of the estuary, your vacation will feel like a sweet dream as you visit the fine sand beaches of Vaux Sur Mer, Royan and Saint-Georges-de-Didonne, interrupted by seaside resorts that still look like tiny villages. Talmont-sur-Gironde, just a short drive away, is one of the most beautiful villages in France.
