In 2017 we transformed part of our barn and outbuilding into a vacation cottage and rent it out as a vacation home but can also be rented as a Bed and Breakfast. The nature house is located in the outskirts of Westerwolde, in the south/east of Groningen. The cottage is a detached outbuilding next to our farmhouse and consists of a living room / kitchen, bedroom, shower / toilet and it stands on the edge of the forest where deer, squirrels, foxes and many birds are regularly spotted, not to mention our 2 cats, 8 chickens and 1 rooster. The cottage is suitable for 2 persons and on request a third bed can be placed. Rental apartment without breakfast € 95.00 p.n. Would you like to rent it as a B & B, for breakfast you pay € 9.00 p.p.p.d. extra.
Nature and surroundings
When you think of Groningen, you think of vast fields, clay and a distant horizon. But Westerwolde is different. Here no straight lines, but winding roads. No distant enders here, but intimate pieces of heath, forest and arable land. Meandering streams and undulations in the landscape almost make you wonder: is this really Groningen? The spine of Westerwolde is the Ruiten Aa, a stream that has regained its original meanders. On either side of the stream, there are varied forests more than a 1,000 years old. Today, the kingfisher often shows up here again. A bright blue flash and away it goes again. In Ter Wupping 3 brooks meet in a varied landscape with wooded banks and monumental farms. Walking or cycling in Westerwolde you can go in every direction.
