The accommodation on board can accommodate 8 people. Aboard the sailing ship you float as it were in the middle of nature. Even in a harbor the fish and birds swarm around the ship. Sometimes you can even spot a spoonbill. In the home port of Makkum, the nature house is located opposite the Noordwaard with its large groups of foraging swans and in spring masses of breeding birds including even the bald eagle. The harbor is part of the Natura 2000 area IJsselmeer. Besides as a sailing ship, we also rent the ship as a floating vacation home for nature lovers. The ship is comfortable, spacious and swimming water is always nearby.
Nature and surroundings
From our nature house you can go to a variety of natural areas. Most of them, of course, are related to water. The others are, very practically, in close proximity. Very beautiful is the seal paradise World Heritage Wadden Sea: the nursery of the North Sea and "refueling station" for millions of migratory birds. But also an area where darkness at night is rare, so that on clear nights the stars cannot be counted. The IJsselmeer is a natura 2000 area and thus also has a protected status. Here especially the shallow coasts and the reed beds along the dikes offer beautiful opportunities for birdwatchers. Along with the vast bird-rich Frisian nature reserves and landscapes, you can also reach these areas at your leisure during bicycle or walking trips from the port.
