Back to basics at this unique overnight location! Always wanted to sleep in a prehistoric house and spend an evening by a romantic campfire? At the nature house in Lelystad it is possible! Our archaeological open-air museum makes its grounds available for small and large groups of nature lovers. Waking up in one of the recreated prehistoric houses, who doesn't want that? Swifterkamp is an archaeological open-air museum where a prehistoric settlement has been recreated. Sleeping is done on straw mattresses in a prehistoric house. Guests bring their own bedding. There are several places to light a campfire. Wood is for sale at the site. Sanitary facilities include 2 toilets, 2 urinals, 1 showers (working with €0.50). There is also a kitchen with a refrigerator, several sinks, coffee maker (incl filters), pots and pans. A stove and a microwave/oven can be rented for €6.50 each per night.
Nature and surroundings
The location is in Natuurpark Lelystad, where there are beautiful walks and where, with a little luck, many special animals can be spotted. For example, there are wisents, prezwalski horses, otters and moose. The Oostvaardersplassen are also within easy reach, as is the new nature reserve the Markerwadden. On the property itself is a small lake where you can swim or try out a log canoe! Besides group accommodation for individuals, we are also a location where we organize (supervised) school camps. The school camps are suitable for groups 6 to 8 of elementary school and the goal is to let children experience life in prehistoric times. If you are interested in this, do not hesitate to contact us. NOTE: we are not a party location and sound carriers are not allowed due to the location in a nature reserve. Having a beer around a campfire is of course possible.
