Welcome to the nature house, an estate with mansion located on the outskirts of the Maasland village of Rotem. The stately house was built in the 19th century by the noble family in the same period when the canal was dug. For a long time, a customs post for passing ships was also located here. Meanwhile, the "Dreessen" family has lived there for 5 generations. The vacation house is a luxurious accommodation for 6 people with 3 bedrooms equipped with queen-size box-spring beds. The kitchen has a hot air oven, microwave, dishwasher, induction hob, extractor hood, fridge and freezer as well as basic spices, tea, coffee, milk and sugar. There is a bathroom with rain shower, double sink, toilet. In the hall is an additional separate toilet and a washer and dryer. The vacation home also has a private terrace with garden furniture and a Boretti barbecue. In the garden there is a petanque court. Electric bicycles are available at €15/pp/day.
Nature and surroundings
The nature house is located along the Zuid-Willemsvaart canal and at the edge of the forest of the Kempisch Plateau. Ideal for exploring the Maasland as a hiker or cyclist. We are in the immediate vicinity of Bergerven nature reserve and the Hoge Kempen National Park. Walking, cycling and mountain biking can be done in the immediate vicinity. Boat trips on the Meuse and the canal are also among the possibilities. There is private parking at the vacation home. From this parking lot there are also beautiful hiking trails in the woods and hiking trails to the Bergerven nature park where Jean is also a curator. The gateway Terhills of the National Park is not far away. Our vacation house is located along the cycling route network between node 43 and 44. We have electric bicycles available so you can also explore the Maasland extensively by bicycle.
