Our cottage is located in the Perigord Vert, in the northeastern part of the rolling Dordogne. The maison - which has been completely restored - is located on a quiet and spacious property with several outbuildings. There are a handful of other farms in the hamlet. The house, an old farmhouse from the 18th century, has an authentic living room with beamed ceiling and fireplace, a modern kitchen and 2 bedrooms with lovely beds. The bathroom has a shower and toilet. In the pigeonnier - the converted dovecote - is the 3rd bedroom with its own shower and toilet. The beautiful 6000 square meter garden full of fruit trees and hedges was landscaped by a Dutch landscape architect.
Nature and surroundings
The Dordogne - before the French Revolution referred to as the province of Périgord - is located in southwestern France, in the new region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The Dordogne department - said by many to be one of the most beautiful regions of France - is known for its delicious food, castles, rivers, lakes and beautiful scenery. The Dordogne is surrounded by the departments of Haute-Vienne, Correze, Lot, Lot et Garonne, Gironde and Charente.Payzac is located in the Périgord Vert (Green Périgord), in the northeastern part of the Dordogne. A hilly area with meadows, (oak) forests, lakes, streams and small villages. Famous places: Nontron, Brantôme, Lanouaille, Thiviers and Saint Pardoux la Rivière. The rivers Côle, Auvézère, Dronne and Belle flow through this part of the Dordogne.
