Maison Machecourt is detached, completely private, atop a rocky plateau with breathtaking views. A romantic spacious 2 person house (45m2) with a unique location next to a 1000 year old castle and miles of panoramic views across the valley to the low mountains of the Morvan nature reserve. The garden is enclosed with private parking and storage for bicycles. The house is on one level. The bright living room with wood stove and open kitchen has 3 large windows. The bedroom (10m2) is located on the garden side. The spacious bathroom (10m2) you will find a walk-in shower, sink, toilet, washer/dryer and a large dresser cabinet. There is fiber optic wifi for wireless internet. Each room is electrically heated, exterior shutters keep it cool. From the house you walk right into the woods. In the morning you are awakened by the many birds, at night you can spot wildlife and enjoy the beautiful starry sky.
Nature and surroundings
It is a fantastic biking and hiking area!!! There is very little traffic so the narrow roads together form an endless network of cycling and walking paths. You can cycle all day here and only encounter 5 cars. The surrounding landscape is authentic, lovely and quiet with many views over numerous hills with grain, meadows, forests, sunflower fields. Here you imagine yourself back in time, hurry plays no role. Maison Machecourt is situated on 2 marked trails. There are also castles to visit, gardens and medieval towns and villages. Between Vézelay and Sancerre Champallement is located exactly between the famous pilgrimage town of Vézelay with its iconic cathedral and the famous wine town of Sancerre along the Loire River. Watery At 15 km is the most beautiful canal in France: Canal du Nivernais with its many colored locks that ends at the great lakes of Baye and bazolle. Also at 15 km is a natural swimming lake hidden in the woods.
