*** Note: rental stops as of mid-October *** The yurt was put up in Sept. '21 and is from Mongolia. There is good insulation of wool felt in the walls and a lovely wood stove in the middle. The yurt is quite spacious at 6.80 in diameter. There is a skylight - allowing you to look at the sky while lying down - and a window in the door. In the yard is also an accommodation for groups on personal development. With this, the yurt is specially equipped for retreats, so for anyone who wants to relax alone or with a partner surrounded by silence and nature. The round shape and cozy lights make it very cozy. Basically, the yurt is primitive and immediately puts you in touch with all the elements of the earth. There is no running water, but there is: electricity, a composting toilet in garden shed, wood stove with wood, jerry can with fresh water, a rain barrel for washing, bedding and at limited times there is a shower available in the farmhouse. In the Kromme Rijn area, near the Utrecht Ridge, lies the village of Cothen where the yurt stands on the property along with a farmhouse dating from 1801. The yurt stands at the end of a plot of 1.65 hectares in total. The estate is surrounded by ditches and there are several ponds. In the garden is a small forest, there are meadows where the grass is allowed to grow high in summer and all kinds of tall fruit trees. Behind the farm is a restored towpath along the Kromme Rijn. You can walk to picturesque Wijk bij Duurstede as well as to Utrecht and to the Amsterdam-Rijn canal where a picnic area has been created and a fish ladder to the Caspargauw. In Cothen you can rent canoes at restaurant de Jonge Graaf. A little further away towards Doorn is the vast forest area of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug.
