Our modern barn house is fully equipped (including bed linen and bath towels), thanks to renewable energy facilities you can enjoy a comfortable stay. In addition to the spacious bedrooms, the house has 2 bathrooms, 1 on the ground floor and 1 on the second floor. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, Dolce Gusto, microwave/oven combination, hob, large refrigerator and a spacious freezer. We have equipped the barn house with 48 solar panels that provide the energy towards a heat pump that heats the house well during cold periods and can cool during hot periods through the underfloor heating/cooling. From our yard you can walk straight into nature, but you can also walk into the village center to enjoy our good local restaurants. A bicycle shed is available to safely store your bicycles.
Nature and surroundings
The village of Markelo located in the beautiful surroundings of Twente, lies between 5 hills and is surrounded by nature, from the cottage you can walk towards the water of the Schipbeek, the beautiful forest of the Kattenberg, the Hulpe and the Markeloseberg. You can also enjoy the rural environment with its farm roads, diverse flora and fauna, right from your own terrace or actively with the walking shoes, bicycle or mountain bike. Markelo has acclaimed hiking and cycling routes, with the Twentse Wallen hiking route in Markelo being named the most beautiful hiking route in the Netherlands in 2018. By bike, you are surrounded by the nature reserves the Borkeld and the Salland Ridge near Holten, and many beautiful routes along estates and castles have already been mapped out for you. Also for the mountain biker there are 2 MTB routes in the area that are among the favorites.
