Almost fifty kilometers of unobstructed views in Burgundy, we fell like a stone for that. This old farmhouse was built around 1850. After a few years of tinkering, it is now habitable again. The house is about 60 m2, with a garden of about 1,500 m2. There are two bedrooms, each with a double bed. There are two workstations and faster (fiber optic) internet than at our home in Amsterdam (thank you EU & French government). The bathroom is not big but has a sink, toilet, shower with a view and floor heating. In the brand new kitchen you will find everything you need: spices, oil, pans, oven, Nespresso, milk frother, dishwasher, washer & dryer, fridge & freezer, microwave, blender, etc. Probably you will sit most outside, on the large terrace, under an old canopy where the cows once stood under. In the morning you can watch the sun rise there, and you never get used to that. At the front of the house you can enjoy a glass of wine in the evening sun.

Three kilometers away in St. Saulge you will find a supermarket, a very good bakery, pharmacy, doctor and Mustafa's Art Café next to the church (highly recommended, see photos). A little further drive to Chatillon-en-Bazois are our favorite supermarket (B1n) and bakery. You can make lovely walks in and around Montpillard. From the hill runs an unpaved path, and five minutes drive away is the lake 'Etang du Merle' where you can walk and mountain bike beautifully in the woods. You can also swim there in the summer, there is a children's beach with a lifeguard. If you stay a little longer there are beautiful day trips to the wine regions of Pouilly, Sancerre, Chablis and Burgundy. Other recommendations: a hike in the Morvan, the cathedral of Vezelay, the Gallic museum of Bibracte, the "castle under construction" Guedelon, the climbing forest near Nevers and rafting in the Morvan. You will find leaflets about these in the house.
