Above Altenau, in a quiet, sunny location, you will find our vacation log cabin with a wonderful view over the village. The popular cross-country ski runs and hiking trails start right "on the doorstep". A nearby forest swimming pool offers a wonderful opportunity for refreshment in summer. The village of Altenau is centrally located in the Oberharz. Clausthal-Zellerfeld to the west is about ten kilometers away, Goslar to the north about 15 km and Osterode am Harz to the southwest about 25 km. Twelve kilometers east of the mountain town is the summit of the Brocken, which can be seen from many parts of Altenau. To the north, Altenau's broad valley is bordered by the Schwarzenberg mountain along the market to the end of the town in the direction of the Oker dam. To the east, the town is bordered by the slopes of the Mühlenberg and the Kunstberg in the area of the Kleine Oker and from the west by the Rothenberg and the Glockenberg.
