This former stable at a 1928 farmhouse located in the outskirts of Laren (GLD), has been converted into an attractive apartment for two, with its own entrance and parking. Inside, a large glass sliding door in the living room with open kitchen creates a beautifully bright space that is in direct connection with the garden. The kitchen is equipped with many amenities including a built-in oven, stove, dishwasher, refrigerator and nespresso coffee maker. Outside there are several seating areas where you can enjoy the tranquility of the Achterhoek countryside, regularly accompanied by the laughing call of the green woodpecker. Sitting at the edge of the meadow, there is a chance that in the light of the early evening you will see groups of deer passing by the edge of the woods, their paws shrouded in the patches of the first white deer. The apartment is connected to the main house, but offers complete privacy.
Nature and surroundings
The cottage is located amid the meadows on the border of the Achterhoek and Twente. This primeval environment is ideal for hiking and cycling. The cottage overlooks the edge of the woods of the Verwolde Estate, whose garden, manor house and park are certainly worth a visit. The route of the Pieterpad passes nearby and furthermore there are several 'klompenpaden' in the neighborhood, which introduce you to the landscape and history of this beautiful region in a very intimate way. Twenty minutes away by car is the unique nature reserve of the Sallandse heuvelrug, with a variety of hiking and cycling routes. For an urban interlude you can visit the attractive Hanseatic cities of Zutphen and Deventer, both no more than a 20-minute drive away. Lovers of cooking and beautiful local products can indulge in various farm stores, picking gardens, (sheep) cheese makers and even a breeder of wagyu cattle.
