The B&B is housed in a half-timbered farmhouse dating from around 1850. the farmhouse has been restored with traditional materials . A large garden with several terraces, ponds and a forest plot with babbling brook complete the whole . Hostess and cook Irene Wieling and host and furniture maker Peter van Dorp take good care of their guests. In addition to B&B, evenings can be served (table d'hote) Guesthouse (Chambre d'hôte) Le Grand Aleff receives visitors all year round. Two spacious guest rooms are available, each with its own bathroom and toilet. The rooms each have a capacity of two to three persons. In addition, there is a small room with a sink.
Nature and surroundings
Abroad is just around the corner. In 45 driving minutes you can be in the Ardennes from Maastricht or Aachen. The Belgian Ardennes have a lot to offer in terms of nature and culture. Sports enthusiasts can go hiking, biking and in the -sometimes harsh- winter cross-country skiing. Le Grand Aleff is located in the epicenter of the Ardennes: the rolling countryside just south of Malmedy and east of Stavelot. Malmedy is a French-speaking Ost canton. The area abuts the High Fens, a unique nature reserve. Around Le Grand Aleff, meadows and forests alternate. It is therefore the place for hiking and cycling. For mountain bikers, routes of all gradations have been set out. (Racing) cyclists can indulge themselves on the road. Here steep climbs are the rule rather than the exception. Quiet cycling is also possible. Hundreds of flat kilometers on the RAVeLs - the tracks of former railroad lines - have been laid out in eastern Belgium. There are facilities for e-bikers.
