Our trailer was the home of foor stallholders from the 1940s to 1950s. Although it now serves as a vacation home in our orchard, it was ready for the scrap heap when we discovered it in a Walloon village in 2015. With much love, patience and the recovery of old furniture and other bric-a-brac, we restored it from its fungus-infested wood frame to the final, cozy, warm and unique vacation home it is today. Guests even called it a "palace among caravans"! Some original elements that were still present in the caravan in good condition, such as the stained-glass sliding doors, the kitchen cabinets and the crystal chandelier, we naturally preserved. Further decoration was done using furniture and furniture parts we found at brocante markets or through friends. What others throw away gets a beautiful second life with us! Annabelle is fully equipped with kitchen (with induction hob), living room and bedroom, shower and toilet.
Nature and surroundings
We run a B&B in the village of Soy, part of the municipality of Erezée, situated on the Calestienne, a limestone ridge that runs from west to east, across the Ardennes. Typical of this geological formation are the numerous underground caves, such as that of Hotton, as well as the above-ground, limestone-loving flora, including numerous rare, endemic orchids. Our site is located on the road from Hotton to Erezée . During the morning and evening commuter traffic passes by, but it is quiet in the evening and during the day. Annabelle, is at the center of a small orchard with apple trees planted in the 1930s. Each fall we gather the apples and have them made into delicious apple juice at a local pressing plant that we serve with our guests' breakfasts. The rest of the garden has been transformed in recent years into a natural paradise with a pond, a marsh and many native plants.
