It is a charming, stone Breton farmhouse located in the heart of the beautiful, peaceful Breton countryside. The vine-covered thick granite walls make it cool in summer and cozy in winter with the cast-iron wood stove. The farmhouse has a large gravel driveway, ideal for long summer evenings of bocce and barbecues. The cottage has a bright, airy kitchen and dining area, a comfortable and cozy living room with TV, 2 sofas, armchairs and a wood stove. There is a toilet downstairs. Upstairs there is a spacious double bedroom with its own bathroom with shower. There are 2 more bedrooms with 2 single beds each. Separate bathroom with bath and tub/shower. The decor is tasteful and understated in muted tones. There are plenty of beautiful trees to climb and the woods near the lake offer great opportunities to build dens. We grow our own vegetables and we are always happy to share our surplus! Freshly laid eggs from our 6 chickens are usually available as well.
Nature and surroundings
The house sits on a private 4-acre estate with lawns and annual summer flowers surrounding it. Across the private lane is a meadow, which in turn leads to a clearing in the woods and a path down to our own private lake with rowboat. The treehouse, under construction, offers a bird's eye view of the lake which has a small dock for diving and swimming and we regularly fill it with rainbow trout. Day passes are available to fish the lake. There are numerous beautiful trees to climb and the woods near the lake offer great opportunities to build dens. Wildlife is abundant and we have seen kingfishers, egrets, deer, badgers, hedgehogs, pin marten and even wild boars. With absolutely no light pollution and clean, unpolluted air, this is a perfect place for stargazing. I have never seen the Milky Way as clearly as I did from here on a moonless night.
