The farmstead was built in 1890, but buildings had been present at this same location since about 1600. Nowadays, the place where the farm is protected village view. The characteristic, former agricultural building the Hiddinghhoeve, was completely renovated in 2012 and furnished as a B & B. In 2023 in the farm was a luxury guesthouse realized. This spacious apartment has a living room with loft where, in open connection is a separate bedroom. There is a luxury bathroom with a walk-in shower, bathtub and free toiletries. The well-equipped kitchen has a stove, a refrigerator, a dishwasher. A combination microwave and coffee maker, internet and TV are provided. The style is rural. The apartment has a private entrance and a private terrace. Because the sleeping area is accessible by stairs and the bathroom is on the ground floor, the apartment is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
Nature and surroundings
Smeerling consists of a number of scattered Westerwold farms from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. And is surrounded by natural areas. There are also the Smeerling Tea House and the antique and restoration farm. Hikers and cyclists here have a space to choose from beautiful routes. The small-scale landscape offers alternating woods, wooded banks and rows of trees.
