In this renovated sleeping train from the 1950s, you can book one or more cabins. Located on Lake Åsnen, in the picturesque village of Ålshult (Ryd) The perfect cabin. Breakfast is served in the conservatory of the adjacent café. You can also use this conservatory in the evening and you will find coffee and tea at your disposal. Toilet and shower are 30 meters away. Each family / group has its own room with shower and toilet. Bed linen can be booked extra. The café serves lunch and those staying on the train can book an evening meal. Please note: Coupe no.1 has 2 x single bed, Coupe 2 has 1 x double bed and a sofa bed (suitable for a child 4-12yrs). This fifth bed cannot be booked through the website, but can be paid for on the spot. So too any bed linen. Coupe no.3 is half the train, with its own entrance and extra luggage space. If you book compartment 1 and 2 together, you also have half a train with its own entrance.
Nature and surroundings
The 20-house village of Ålshult is located on Lake Åsnen and only 3 km from Åsnen National Park. The old grocery store now houses a lunchroom with a boutique and next to the old station is the thoroughly renovated sleeper train. For those who want to learn a little more of the culture and history, there is the 6 km long hiking trail. This path takes you past the villa of Freule Stevens, the old school and the location where the iron smelter once stood in the 17th century. However, you can also rent a bike, canoe or kayak and explore the National Park or cycle around the lake in 1 day. The Åsnen Big Five (moose, crane, osprey, bald eagle and pearl diver) like to be seen around and on the lake and guarantee a successful safari.
