Our nature house is located in a beautiful forest on a hill with stunning views. Ideal for resting, relaxing and enjoying nature, as well as hiking or mountain biking in the immediate vicinity. For the children there is a trampoline, a cable car and a garage with a table tennis table; also an e-bike and 2 children's MTBs. The kitchen has an opening to a nice terrace with a BBQ plus fire basket and there is a cozy wood stove in the living room for the evening or in winter. The cottage has a kitchen, 2 bathrooms and plenty of sleeping places to choose from (bedrooms with single or double beds). There is also a room with a desk to sit quietly for a day of home office. Note: we don't have internet in the house (yet); but we do have good 5G coverage for calling or hotspot. We often use the house ourselves but are happy to make it available to guests during open periods. The garden (approx 7500m2) is surrounded by a fence (ideal for dog owners).
Nature and surroundings
The cottage is within walking distance of the village of Sommerau (70 inhabitants). From the house itself are wonderful (marked) hiking and mountain biking routes (long or shorter routes, look for example on the komoot app. From the house it is approx 10 minutes drive to Trier, the oldest city in Germany in the middle of the famous wine region around the Moselle. Luxembourg and Echternach can be reached in about 40 minutes - for a day trip to the city or for beautiful walks through the rock formations. In the town of Sommerau there is a cozy Pizzeria with a lovely terrace in good weather. A former train track runs as a bike path / hiking trail directly to Trier (15km), or to Hermeskeil (54km, at 500m altitude). Within 3.5km you can go shopping by bike or to the bakery in Waldrach. There is an outdoor pool 5km away in Kasel, and e.g. the Holzerather See for swimming.
