Nature and surroundings
Teuven is situated in a beautiful undulating landscape, surrounded by extensive forests. The neo-Gothic St. Peter's Church, built in 1870, rises remarkably high above the rest of the village. Teuven possesses two castles. First, 'De Hoof', once the residence of the local lords. After purchase by the Flemish Community in 1985, it was privately refurbished, and is now operated as a hotel-restaurant. The former abbey of Sinnich has been privately owned since the French Revolution. From about 1250 Augustinian nuns lived here in an abbey founded from Kloosterrade (Rolduc) - now Dutch Limburg. The Voer region is actually part of the Land of Herve, as is the southeastern part of the Dutch province of Limburg. Almost 20% of the Voerstreek is nature reserve. In Voeren lies the highest point in Dutch-speaking Belgium: the southeastern village of Remersdaal at 287 m altitude. HUNKING The Voer region is one of the most beautiful Flemish hiking regions. You can now explore the beautiful landscape
