Our hut is located at 1,500 meters in the Kärntner Nockberge, on the border with Salzburgerland, a unique area in Austria with rolling forested mountains. Since July 2012, this area has been on UNESCO's World Heritage List and is a biosphere reserve. You will find coniferous and deciduous forests, and higher up, larch and pine. There is plenty of biodiversity, with bears, woodpeckers, eagle owls, lynx and badgers. Just a few hundred meters away is the famous Nockalmstraße, a great alpine road in Carinthia. With 35 kilometers of winding roads, breathtaking views and several playgrounds for children. In addition, there are 14 traditional eateries (jausenstations) with various local specialties. Our place is also an ideal base for ski lovers.
