Imagine yourself in Friesland on Crete on the private terrace by the pool! This idyllic nature house, the Kingfisher, is tucked away in our green backyard. The garden full of beautiful flowers, shrubs, plants and trees (which we maintain with care and love) shields you. So you really have a place to yourself. Enjoy the lovely spot until the end of the day delicious in the sun. If desired, make your own pizza in the simple wood oven. Sometimes you spot a kingfisher or a sunbathing grass snake near the pond. We have two cozy chickens that scratch around in the garden. The pool is heated via solar panels and a heat pump (from June through September). The cottage is a small cozy log cabin with separate bedroom (kind of bed box) with unique windows to enjoy the morning sun. With a nice sitting area, two-burner cooking facilities, sink, toilet, and an outdoor shower, which does need the sun for hot water. The Kingfisher is for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.

From the cottage you can walk directly via a forest path to the forest behind. Four km away begins the Drentse Friese Wold with forest, heathland, shifting sands and grasslands, where it is beautiful walking and cycling. The Colonies of Weldadigheid (Unesco World Heritage) are also worth a visit with several museums. Nearby are cozy villages and the towns of Steenwijk, Meppel and Heerenveen are within half an hour by car. We are happy to tell you where there are more beautiful places. The supermarket, bakery and drugstore are within cycling distance.
