This farmhouse is a former workers cottage belonging to the farm in Blijham. The farmhouse is a National Monument and is located right next to the longest winding garden in Groningen (see youtube: boschplaatse blijham). The farmhouse has been completely renovated but retaining original features such as an old bed box. It has a very spacious garden with lots of privacy and a beautiful view over the fields of Blijham. For coziness provides a wood-fired fireplace. This model was designed by Benjamin Franklin and has since been known as "the Franklin. The farm was once chosen as one of the 4 most beautiful vacation cottages in the Netherlands (ANWB & AVRO). Internet and TV via KPN fiber. Incl use of 6 bicycles including 1x battery bike, 1x racing bike, 4x Dutch touring bikes with gears.
Nature and surroundings
Blijham is centrally located for visiting the Oldambt, rustic Westerwolde and the historic Veenkoloniën. Plenty of opportunity for cycling tours and walks in the beautiful surroundings with Romanesque churches, museums, nature reserves, capital farms, Kiekkaaste, grain republic, etc. A canoe is available free of charge for trips on the Westerwoldse Aa.
