Yurt Shiitake is a cozy nest with natural materials and shades. It has a loam floor, there is a wood stove with sheepskins, lots of plants and natural colors. On the bench in the permaculture garden you can enjoy the beautiful view in the winter sunshine with a hot cup of tea. The kitchen is quite simple, so you have to love that. There is no dishwasher and water heater, so you have to boil hot water with the kettle. The owner has a very sweet cat, Sjakie, who also belongs to the rental. The owner of the yurt asks you to take care of Sjakie (and the indoor plants). This does not require much time, as there is an automatic cat feeding device. However, a daily cuddle session appreciates Sjakie immensely!
Nature and surroundings
Yurt Shiitake is located at the back of the campsite among the trees. The place gives a very quiet and private feeling. The yurt is completely and personally decorated with natural materials. Around the yurt is a beautiful permaculture garden with a lawn, a bench and a lovely view. Just a short walk from the yurt you will find the floodplains with access to the river. Very nice area for a walk or a swim! Across the river (with a very cozy ferry) you will find the beautiful forests of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Here you can also enjoy hiking, forest bathing, running or mountain biking. Furthermore, there are a number of beautiful villages in the area that are nice to visit. In Wijk bij Duurstede, for example, you can have a nice cup of coffee at the Graanschuur. Very nice place and super nice village to walk through. Buren & Culemborg (organic farm Caetshage) are also recommended! Other tips: Thedingsweerd & Zuylestein estate.
