Your gîte - ideal for one to 4 people - is recently built using natural materials (timber frame, interior and exterior wood cladding, insulated with straw bales and clay). The dwelling faces due south to benefit from the sun's warmth in winter, and the terrace is sheltered from the summer sun and overheating by a roof/terrace designed according to the sun's rotation. The decor is a combination of the Alps and the Ardennes: wood, touches of forest and the omnipresence of the Lord of our Forests. You'll find the deer on a tapestry, its antlers above the fireplace and in various objects. Some walls are made of clay, while others are covered with planks from old Austrian cottages and barns. You'll find all the softness and beauty of natural, noble materials, harmoniously matched in warm colors.
Nature and surroundings
Located in the Ardennes, in the authentic rural wooded village of Vlessart, in the heart of the 7,000-hectare Grande Forêt d'Anlier beech forest. At the gateway to the Gaume region and the recently created Semois Valley National Park, where you can also go kayaking. Ideally located for hiking, cycling and horse-riding directly from the gîte, with more than 50 itineraries over distances ranging from 2 to 50 km. Close to important historical sites such as Orval Abbey, the castles of Bouillon and Vianden, the Gallo-Roman museums and excavations of Arlon and Habay, and the Battle of the Bulge museums in Bastogne. The stag bellow is the call of the stags during the rutting season. You can hear it at Vlessart by opening the window after sunset from mid-September to mid-October.
