Vie de Rêve was love at first sight for us. Indeed, this cottage (> 50 m2) is located in a 200-year-old, beautifully renovated longère. It is originally an old animal shed and has thick walls, keeping it cool inside in summer. The location is ideal: quiet, with a beautiful view of a valley and the immediate entourage is rich in numerous fruit trees. The garden has a sizeable lawn in which to relax. Inside, you have a spacious lounge at your disposal, equipped with a sofa bed, a smart TV, a coffee & tea corner and a mini-fridge. The master bedroom has a solid double bed and a linen closet. The nature house is located near the medieval town of Nanteuil-en-Vallée. The postcard village is on the route to the pilgrimage site of Santiago de Compostella. You are here in the Charente, named after the river of the same name that crosses the French department. There is no shortage of natural beauty; the area has beautiful hiking and cycling routes. Fancy a refreshing dip? You can sail, canoe, boat or fish on the lakes of Lavaud and Mas Chaban, near Chassenon. Lavaud Lake has two pleasant sandy beaches; great for swimmers. Nice villages to visit are Verteuil-sur-Charente and the (larger) Ruffec. Not to be missed is Confolens, where you can visit annually (in August) for the folkloric Festival de Confolens. Also, we recommend Angoulême, the cozy capital of the Charente. A bonus is the proximity to the sea: in fact, a two-hour drive away is the seaside resort of La Rochelle.
