This nature house has a bit of a Scandinavian feel to it! You don't need much which is why this cottage is so minimalist and practical. You want to enjoy the outdoors, but also be able to retreat back to the fine nature house after a day out. This two-person cabin has large windows, double bed, kitchen, shower and toilet and a seating area for inside and outside. On the terrace there is an egg barbecue and a hot tub. Here you can enjoy the outdoors. The cabins are on a small green park on the edge of nature reserve the Rottige Meenthe. The barbecue and hot tub are part of the standard equipment. Coal and wood for the first fire will be given to the guest as a gift. Additional wood and coal can always be purchased.
Nature and surroundings
You don't need much to enjoy what's there. Make your own campfire, grow vegetables in the park's central vegetable garden or head out into the beautiful countryside. Discover the calm atmosphere of the wetlands. Directly behind the park is the Rottige Meenthe nature reserve. This area in turn borders National Park Weeribbben-Wieden. Together, these areas form a large low moor swamp that arose in the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries as a result of peat extraction. The area is largely open to the public. There is wonderful canoeing, cycling and walking. Extra attention deserves the town of Giethoorn. Giethoorn, with its many canals, bridges and lakes, is called the Venice of the North. A visit to one of the old Zuiderzee villages nearby such as Lemmer, Blokzijl, Vollenhove and Urk is also worthwhile. Lemmer, by the way, is a popular water sports town. From here, many boats travel into the Frisian Lake District.
