Welcome to our new vacation home. We, Jo and Hilde live on the site of the former Racour Station. In our large landscaped garden (1.3 ha), we have recently built a new vacation cottage which is architecturally inspired by our railroad cottage 'Logement des Piocheurs' which was the place where the railroad workers used to stay. Our new lodging 'Grand Logement des Piocheurs' is durably constructed in a wood frame and at the same time uniquely adapted for wheelchair users. The kitchen has a worktop that is wheelchair accessible and adjustable in height as well as the kitchen cabinets. The bathroom is extra spacious for the wheelchair with adapted toilet with brackets and shower with seat. On the ground floor there is a bedroom with a double bed. Thanks to our self-made wheelchair with wide tires, everyone can enjoy our garden and the surroundings. On the mezannine there is sleeping space for 2 or 4 people with extra private toilet, sink and shower. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy quietly.
Nature and surroundings
The immediate area around Racour Station, where in the past the wagons of the steam trains were loaded with goods has been transformed into a landscape garden of 1.30 ha. Two yew trees over 120 years old invite you to explore our landscape garden. Children can romp in this garden, meet in the willow hut or build a camp in our forest. You can quietly enjoy nature or pick organic greens from our picking garden that we share with our guests. There are also garden games available for guests such as kubs, petanque. The Hagelands Haspengouw of Landen is rich in numerous and fascinating walks along hollow roads, square farms. We offer free bicycles for young and old to enjoy cycling on the route of the former railroad line 147, which has now been converted into a cycling path (RAVeL). If you prefer culture, visit the authentic Racour museum 'La vie d'autrefois et Tarare'.
