Our cottage is a characteristic Ardennes farmhouse with attached barn( bikes) and underneath two stables( wood and garden(tools)). The old style has been maintained with adjustments. On the ground floor are the cozy kitchen, the comfortable living room with fireplace, and at the rear the bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. On the second floor are two bedrooms, each with a large double bed. On request, a crib (max. 4 years old) can be added. The garden at the front faces south, centrally in the village, while the back garden overlooks the hills towards the river Ourthe.
Nature and surroundings
Engreux is a small farming village located between 2 arms of the river The Ourthe. Because of this, unlike most Ardennes villages, there is no through traffic. You leave the village via the same road you entered. This situation traditionally gives the village its 2 nicknames: "Le bout du monde" and "Le petit paradis". Also because of this, this is 1 of the rare places in the Ardennes where it is wonderfully quiet. From the village you can go hiking and mountain biking in all directions, with or without marked trails. There are no stores in Engreux. You can have a bite to eat at the campsite restaurant and groceries can be done 5 km away in Bertogne. Bastogne, the center of the 2nd World War's Ardennes Offensive is 12 km away. There is a Memorial and a large war museum. 12 km to the other side is Houffalize, the tourist center of this part of the Ardennes.
