For everyone looking for peace, nature and culture welcome to our cottage on the field. At 20 minutes from the heart of Amsterdam is the ribbon village Oostknollendam, with the beach of Castricum nearby, open-air museum the Zaanse Schans around the corner. Culture at the HEM site in Zaandam (where ZAMU opens this spring) or museum Kranenburgh in Bergen aan Zee. Grab a terrace in Alkmaar, eat at trattoria in Neck, get ice cream at Hemels in the Zaan bend of Wormerveer. Or just relaxing at home in the cottage cooking, reading and on the couch enjoying the view of the Wormer and Jisperveld; protected bird sanctuary of Natuurmonumenten.
Nature and surroundings
The cottage is located on the edge of Oostknollendam on our own field of 3 hectares. Sometimes farmer Wouter's flock of sheep is on part of the field but there is plenty of room to walk, swing and picnic in the field. From the dike you can walk to Spijkerboor but there is also a beautiful bicycle route through the area set out by Natuurmonumenten. From the field you can kayak to the lakes in the area, kayaks and bicycles can be rented nearby. By car it takes a good fifteen minutes to reach the coast or the Beemster with its numerous picturesque villages. From the station in Wormerveer (2km) you can also take the train in all directions, car can be parked for free and the bus stops every hour at the door.
