Our secluded gazebo is a nice place to unwind. The only sounds you hear are the birds or at night an owl. The cottage is at the back of our garden, and has its own entrance. You can enjoy sleeping in the bed of 1.20 m wide, or sleep in pairs, then it is old-fashioned cozy. The cottage is soberly furnished and is especially suitable as a starting point for going out, or to study in peace. You can make coffee and tea and there is a microwave oven. You cannot cook yourself, but if you wish you can join us for a vegetarian meal by appointment. There is wifi and a television in the cottage. There is a separate bathroom with a sink, shower and toilet.
Nature and surroundings
The cottage stands on the central meadow of the hamlet Kleine Geest or "Lytse Geast" as we say in Friesland. In that meadow is our horse Max, together with his friend Henkie who belongs to the neighbors. There is nothing else in our hamlet, except some houses and farms, but that is what makes it so pleasantly quiet here. By bike it takes half an hour to get to Leeuwarden (the center is 8 km by bike) where there is a lot to do. But also in the surrounding area is beautiful walking or cycling. De kleine Geest is an old sand ridge that rises above the surrounding polder, a kind of island in the green grass. The Frisian Woods begin here, which can be clearly seen by the tree walls surrounding the meadows. Behind the house is a meadow surrounded by a tree wall where it is lovely to relax when the weather is nice.
