This monument was built around 1934 and is still almost completely is style. The cottage gives you the experience of the very first water recreation in Friesland by the wealthy bourgeoisie. The terrace offers a panoramic view of the Pikmeer and Grou. Its location on the island of De Burd, a nature reserve of It Fryske Gea, ensures that you will find complete tranquility from the very first moment. The cottage is easily accessible by regular ferries to Grou and is located on the popular 'ferry route'. There is 1 bedroom with 2 single beds and for guests there is a classic folding bed, very common in those days. If you are looking for an authentic, cultural-historical place in the middle of nature with unparalleled views and facilities around the corner, this is your place!
Nature and surroundings
National Park de Alde Feanen is one of the showpieces of It Fryske Gea. The unique nature reserve is a low moorland area of almost 2,500 hectares and consists of a very varied landscape with lakes, reed beds and swamp forests. The nearby village of Grou is a centrally located village in Friesland. Grou has a unique location directly on the Pikmar and the center is located on the shores of this lake. Grou is a nice and cozy water sports village with cozy stores and several restaurants, both on the Pikmar and in the village. From the Pikmar you can easily sail towards all the Frisian Lakes and the beautiful National Park the Alde Feanen. In addition, in just over fifteen minutes you drive to Leeuwarden, the capital of Friesland. Grou is described as pure and authentic, you can still enjoy a picturesque village center here. The village originated around the Sint-Piterkerk. Grou is the ideal central location in Friesland to explore the province.
