Also known as ‘the Isle of Beauty’ Corsica certainly lives up to its name. Here is where you can witness the wilderness and elegance French nature. Covering more than 1000 kilometers of extraordinary coastline, exceptional shores, mountains, woodlands, and landscapes Corsica is home to some of the best natural territories in Europe. One of the many natural sights on the island is for example the Corsica National Park which represents around 40% of the island. The protected area consists of forests and mountain massifs therefore for those nature lovers this area is heaven on Earth. Many of the highest mountain peaks on Corsica are located in this national park displaying spectacular sceneries.
Another protected area in Corsica is the Scandola national park. Located on the west coastline of the island this area has beautiful rock formations that are especially breathtaking in the later afternoon as the rocks catch the setting sun. The crystal clear water makes it simultaneously a marine and land-based reserve.
The flora and fauna of Corsica are also incredibly diverse. During your stay in a cottage in Corsica, you will encounter a wide range of sea birds including cormorants and giant gulls. Seal and dolphin colonies have also been noticed in Scandola national park, however, it’s unlikely that you’ll witness their presence during your holiday.
What can you do during your vacation in a cottage in Corsica?
Regardless if you prefer to have a more chilled vacation or if you’re up for a more adventurous one you won’t be disappointed. If you’re one of those people who prefer to stay active, then you’ll be happy to explore the Gorges de la Restonica region - a popular location among swimmers.
